Written by on May 7, 2020

The Boston Pops Orchestra, under the direction of Keith Lockhart, performs a musical video tribute, Summon the Heroes. The tribute features a composition by John Williams, composer of many of the most well known fantasy and sci-film soundtracks of all time including Star Wars, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and the Indiana Jones series. The composition by Williams was originally created for the 1996 Olympic Games and is performed as a “virtual orchestra” and tribute to today’s first responders who are providing critical and needed services during the Covid-19 epidemic. John Williams joins the virtual tribute with a musical and spoken introduction taped from his home studio in Los Angeles.
