Celebrate the holidays with stories of the season, fireplace specials, carols, and more from December 21st – 25th!

Need to air your grievances? Do it elsewhere because at Heroes and Mortals Radio, it’s about celebrating the history, myth, music, and festivities of the yule-time holiday season. We have a special multi-day block daytime holiday tunes and special evening holiday fare lined up, both for those of you that have been good and those that were not. Light the fire, spike your egg nog, relax, and tune in for an enjoyable holiday season of sounds.

Daily, all day until about midnight, a mix of upbeat holiday show soundtracks, familiar songs, instrumentals, and contemporary holiday music.

The Mercury Theatre ‘A Christmas Carol’

The 1938 broadcast features Orson Welles as Ebenezer Scrooge. The production co-stars Virginia Welles and Joseph Cotten. Welles serves as narrator of the 1939 radio show with Lionel Barrymore as Scrooge.

December 22nd at 10am and 7pm:

BBC Christmas Drama ‘The Snow Queen’

By Hans Christian Andersen. Gerda sets off into the wide world to find her playmate Kay. She’s been seduced away by the powerful Snow Queen to her ice palace in the far north. Hans Christian Andersen’s wintry fairy tale dramatized by Berlie Doherty. The story was the inspiration for Disney’s Oscar-winning animated film, Frozen.

December 23rd at 10am and 7pm:

Basil Rathbone ‘A Christmas Carol’

The 1942 version recorded from the old 78 rpm original record set.

December 24th at 10am and 7pm:

Lux Radio Theater’s adaptation of ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’

Starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed reprising their roles in the Frank Capra 1946 American Christmas fantasy comedy-Drama. No matter how many times you see this perennial Christmas favorite, most people are still entranced by the production.

December 25th at 10am and 7pm:

BBC Radio ‘A Christmas Carol’

The classic Christmas tale from BBC Radio.
